Nutritional Assessments

In clinical trials, food can be thought of as another form of investigational product. Tight control over diet and dietary parameters, including meal composition is critical.

Nutritional Assessments Techniques Commonly Utilized:

  • Appetite and food intake studies (ad libitum buffet meals, “free living” ad libitum eating conditions)
  • Assessment of hunger, satiation, satiety, and motivation to eat (VAS and other validated questionnaires)
  • Standardized meals for glucose assessments, specific energy balance, and macronutrient requirements
  • Food diaries and nutrition counseling
