About

Successful recruitment in diabetes trials hinges on understanding the motivations and barriers that influence participation. While clinical factors like HbA1c levels, treatment type, and disease duration may impact enrollment, their specific role in patient decision-making remains underexplored. To investigate this, data from 855 individuals who consented to research was collected, capturing demographics, diabetes management practices, HbA1c levels, willingness to enroll, and perceived motivations and barriers. Analysis of this dataset revealed patterns in participation behavior and factors influencing engagement.

Findings underscore the complexity of trial participation and the importance of aligning recruitment strategies with patient values. Encouraging enrollment and retention requires emphasizing the individual’s role in advancing medical research and the potential for improved treatments. Addressing concerns about time, invasiveness, and side effects through clear communication and proactive engagement is essential.
