Biomarkers are used to assess pathway-specific metabolites, such as those that represent disease activity. For example, lipidomic markers can indicate stages of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).
